MBABANE – Mbabane Swallows FC management has moved to silence the ‘outside noise’ regarding the club’s leadership.
The FC faction has reaffirmed its position as the only legally recognised entity in charge of the iconic ‘Birds’. Addressing the ongoing governance dispute, club Public Relations Officer (PRO) Knowledge ‘Bhambo’ Ngwenya stated that management remains unfazed by recent utterances, noting that the ownership saga was settled decisively in the High Court in November 2025.
“The court granted Mbabane Swallows FC 100 per cent ownership rights,” Ngwenya asserted. “The current management is legally in office, and we do not owe any faction that claims baseless powers. If anyone is aggrieved by that judgment, the legal route remains the only appropriate path.”
Adding his voice to the dispute, Acting President Absalom ‘Mvana’ Ngwenya challenged the Mbabane Swallows (Pty) Ltd leadership to take their grievances to a higher court if they truly believe their claims hold water.
Addressing the timing of a meeting convened by the PTY faction at Mater Dolorosa (MDS) High School Hall on Sunday, ‘Mvana’ criticised the move as poor, noting that the club is currently in mourning following the tragic passing of treasurer Ndzinisa over the weekend.
“This shows they are not interested in cooperating with us, especially when they know the club is grieving,” the acting president said. “We are running the club in accordance with the High Court judgment, which remains the final word on who the rightful custodians are. If they are not satisfied, they must approach a higher court.”
‘Mvana’ further defended the club’s history, asserting that Mbabane Swallows was never the private property of the late Chairman, Victor Gamedze. “It is a disgrace to the late chairman’s legacy to suggest otherwise. He was an astute football man and would not have registered the club in his own name. I wonder where these individuals were during his time.”
Despite the boardroom distractions, the management committee (MC) is keen to return to footballing matters. PRO Ngwenya confirmed that the leadership is set to meet shortly to conduct a post-mortem of the recently concluded 2025/26 season, which will serve as the blueprint for their 2026/27 preparations.
“The MC and the Board of Trustees are deeply concerned for our players, the technical team and all staff,” Ngwenya added. “We are working tirelessly to engage potential investors to secure the necessary funds for salaries and other operational requirements. These leadership distractions only serve to damage the club’s image and discourage prospective sponsors. The matter is currently under appeal, and we are awaiting the written judgment from the court,” said Mbabane Swallows (Pty) Ltd Board of Directors spokesperson Vusi Sibisi.
