LOBAMBA – Manzini Wanderers Captain Bethulisi Mathonsi has invoked the biblical story of David and Goliath ahead of their high-stakes Ingwenyama Cup women’s final against Young Buffaloes.

Mathonsi conceded that Buffaloes enter the clash as firm favourites but warned the army side not to be misled by their recent 3-0 league victory over the ‘Weslians’. She insisted her team is determined to pull off a major upset.

“We understand it will not be an easy game, but we are prepared to fight until the bitter end,” Mathonsi said.

‘Weslians’ coach Bongani Makhukhula admitted that preparations had been hampered by the fact that many of his players are still in school, yet he remained resolute about their chances.

On the other side, Young Buffaloes coach Fisiwe Hlophe described Wanderers as a young and energetic threat that cannot be taken lightly.

“We are determined to keep the trophy,” Hlophe said, a sentiment echoed by her captain, Celiwe ‘Cece’ Nkambule.
