MBABANE – Appreciation!
This is after a portion of MTN Premier League giants Moneni Pirates supporters presented club President Thulani Xaba with livestock in the form of two indigenous chickens and a goat.
The event took place at a hangout spot called Emgodzini near Mzimnene on Sunday afternoon. The supporters firstly had a braai with the president before presenting him with the gift.
Speaking after the gift presentation, Xaba thanked the supporters for appreciating what he has done for the club as its president.
“It is good to be appreciated while still alive; ours is to deliver for the club. It is really humbling what the supporters did,” Xaba said.
He highlighted that in the short conversation he had with the supporters, they thanked him and the management committee for what they had done for the club since taking over.
“I told them that the team is not mine, but it is ours the Moneni Pirates family,” he said.
Xaba also revealed that the mandate of getting a silverware next season still stands, as they have been unfortunate this campaign.
“We have been affected by the changing of coaches but we will go back to the drawing board for next season,” he added.
He further appreciated the achievement the team recently when they ran 10 matches without losing a single match, under the stewardship of the legendary Matthews ‘Chaka Chaka’ Mandlanzi.
Meanwhile, one of the supporters Thiba Vilakati said they presented Xaba with the livestock to show him appreciation for his job at the team.
On the other hand, Pirates Public Relations Officer (PRO Meluleki ‘Sluga’ Simelane confirmed that the supporters presented the president with gifts.
“ I would like to appreciate what the supporters have done; they should continue doing that as we work towards taking the team to its rightful position in local football,” he said.
