MBABANE - Eswatini Television Authority employee Patience Magagula has been arrested for fraud amounting to E104 051.77.
Information gathered was to the effect that Magagula, who serves as a sub editor for various programmes at the TV station, misrepresented to Swaziland Property Market (Proprietary) Limited by producing a fraudulent memorandum of agreement of lease as proof of ownership of house 1787, situated at Makholokholo township.
It is alleged that, as a result of this misrepresentation, Magagula caused the company an actual loss of E49 000.
Magagula is also accused of having misrepresented to Eswatini Water Services Corporation by producing a fraudulent memorandum of agreement of lease as proof of ownership of house plot no. 1787, located at Makholokholo township. It is claimed that the company suffered an actual loss of E55 051.77 due to the alleged misrepresentation.
Appearing at the Mbabane Magistrates Court also charged with two counts of fraud, Magagula registered her intention to plead not guilty to the charges against her. She stated that she would maintain her innocence during trial. She also applied for her release on bail, arguing that her continued incarceration might result in her losing her job at the TV station, where she is a sub-editor for various programmes. Magagula submitted that she has four children, all of whom depend on her for maintenance and school-related expenses.
