Nothando Hlophe’s journey from Enyakeni to becoming a well-known figure in Gospel music follows a clear path. Her story is based on her early love for singing, her strong faith and dedication to her craft. Over the years, she has built her career step by step, gaining recognition for her talent and message of hope and spirituality.

Her musical journey began in her childhood. She grew up in a Christian family at Enyakeni, a town in the kingdom. From a young age, Nothando loved singing in church. She started singing in Sunday school, where she learnt her first harmonies and developed her love for music. Her early experiences were deeply rooted in her community’s traditions. The lively rhythms and soulful melodies of her homeland helped shape her unique style of music.

As she got older, her talent became more obvious. She took part in a big national competition called the Gospel Challenge in 2008. She performed very well and finished among the top contestants.

This gave her confidence and made her more known in her community. She also caught the attention of Gospel groups and was invited to open shows for well-known Gospel singers such as Joyous Celebration.

A major step in her career was joining a well-known Gospel group called Women in praise. She was given the opportunity to sing lead on songs like ‘Khulula Ugcobo’ during their live recording.

This experience helped her grow as a singer and performer. It also allowed her to learn more about leading worship and connecting with audiences. Working with the group gave her more exposure and helped her develop her own style.

In 2016, Nothando released her first solo album called ‘Impilo Yami’ (‘My Life’). This album was very important for her because it showed her personal faith story. The songs reflected her journey and her belief in God’s work in her life. Releasing this album made her a recognised solo artist.

She continued to grow and in 2019, she recorded a live album called Live at Soweto Theatre. This album showed how much she had developed as an artist. It included spontaneous worship moments and powerful vocals. It also proved she could connect with bigger audiences through her music.

Throughout her career, her faith has always been at the centre of her work. She says that her music is a way to share her personal story and to give glory to God.

Her songs are inspired by her prayers and her reading of Scripture. Her upcoming single called ‘Sithumela Wena’  is a prayer asking God to move in people’s lives. She believes that every song she creates is a form of ministry. Her goal is to uplift and inspire others through her music. Nothando’s style of music mixes contemporary Gospel with traditional Swati music. Her voice is strong and versatile.
