What started as a passion inspired by family traditions is steadily growing into a promising local brand. Sethu’s Homemade Cabbage Archar is making its mark among food lovers by offering a product that combines flavour, quality and a touch of home-grown tradition.

Behind the brand is Siphiwosethu Nyoni, a young entrepreneur whose journey into business was shaped by the hardworking examples set by her parents. Raised in a family where entrepreneurship was a way of life, Nyoni developed an appreciation for business from an early age.

Her father operates a block yard at Lomahasha, while her mother previously sold achar to members of the community. Watching them work tirelessly to serve customers and support their family planted the seed that would later grow into her own business venture.

Nyoni said her parents taught her valuable lessons about dedication, consistency and the importance of building strong relationships with customers. “Seeing my parents run their businesses inspired me to believe that I could also create something meaningful. Their commitment to hard work encouraged me to pursue my own entrepreneurial journey,” she said.

Determined to turn her passion into reality, she launched Sethu’s Homemade Cabbage Archar and began introducing the product to customers in Mbabane and beyond.

The business has continued to gain support from people who enjoy adding a traditional and flavourful side to their meals.

Nyoni believes the success of any food business lies in maintaining quality and ensuring customers receive a product they can trust.

She said she takes pride in preparing achar that meets the expectations of her growing customer base.

Alongside running the business, Nyoni is currently pursuing an Associate Degree in Business Information Technology at Limkokwing University. She said her studies have helped her understand important aspects of business management, marketing and growth, knowledge she is applying directly to her venture.

As the brand continues to grow, Nyoni has ambitious plans.

Her vision is to establish Sethu’s Homemade Cabbage Archar as a recognised household name across Eswatini and eventually expand into wider markets.

“My goal is to see our products available in more places, including shisanyamas and local butcheries. I want people to associate our achar with quality and great taste,” she said.

She added that she hopes the business will not only preserve a beloved local food tradition but also create opportunities for growth and inspire other young entrepreneurs to pursue their dreams.

With determination, family support and a clear vision for the future, Nyoni is steadily building a brand that celebrates local flavours while contributing to the country’s growing entrepreneurial landscape.
