MONARCHIAL DEMOCRACY THE SAME AS TINKHUNDLA - PERCY
MBABANE – Government Press Secretary Percy Simelane has stated that Monarchial Democracy is no different from the Tinkhundla system of democracy.
Simelane said he was, therefore, surprised that from time to time people continued to question what Monarchial Democracy was. “When the King pronounced what the Tinkhundla system was in English he was doing it for the benefit of those who were not indigenous Swazis and, therefore, did not understand what Tinkhundla was,” said Simelane. He was speaking on national radio during the morning programme Letishisako.
Recently, Manzini North Member of Parliament Jan Sithole said he needs time to be taught about Monarchial Democracy in order for him to be in a position to have an informed opinion.
