Calling all art enthusiasts and travellers seeking authentic cultural experiences! Make sure to mark your calendars for a unique, relaxed exhibition featuring the captivating work of local artist, Celumusa Khumalo.
Date: Thursday and Friday December 5, 6 2025
Location: Mbabane National Library
This is the exclusive, solo exhibition of Celimphilo Khumalo’s pieces, titled ‘Drawn from Life’. Hosted in the welcoming, open setting of the Mbabane National Library, the exhibition encourages a leisurely, intimate viewing experience. There will be no formal opening or speeches; simply walk in, wander and absorb the art at your own pace.
Khumalo explained that the title is not about live observation, but rather the simple, honest inspiration behind each work.
“There was no purposeful intention to put together a cohesive or themed body of work for a show,” he notes. “Each painting came about as I happened upon the desire to paint it, often sparked by simply noticing something in a landscape, a face or an object.”
He hopes viewers will feel a kind of immediate familiarity with his art, bypassing the need for sophisticated, intellectual analysis. “While I am able to appreciate the employment of art as a tool for communication and expression and thought provocation, I also believe that we must be allowed to experience any artistic offering in whatever way feels true to ourselves first, ahead of any move to engage intellectually with it.”
For travellers, this exhibition offers a genuine glimpse into the subtle beauty that inspires a local Eswatini artist, reinforcing the belief that the experience of art should first and foremost be true to oneself.
Don’t miss this opportunity to connect with local creativity and take home a memory drawn straight from the heart of the kingdom.
