MBABANE – Eswatini Angling Association (EAA) is set to welcome South Africa’s anglers for an invitational international tournament early next month.
The event will be hosted by EAA at Maguga Dam outside Pigg’s Peak. According to information sourced from EAA President Derek Hopf, the tournament will be staged in the period May 13-16, 2026.
This is one of the two lined up international tournaments this year. Eswatini is also eyeing to compete at the World Championships between September and October this year.
Meanwhile, seasoned anglers will represent Eswatini at Maguga. Most of the anglers boast World Championships experience. They include William Brown, Louis van Zuydam and Wimpie Bouwer, among others.
Meanwhile, Eswatini anglers are known for leaving a mark on the big stage. The Eswatini national angling team achieved a historic milestone by securing a silver medal at the World Championships in Venezuela back in 2012.
