LOBAMBA – Eswatini's Senior Men's National Team Interim Head Coach, Sifiso 'Nuro' Ntibane, has declared that today’s FIFA World Cup African Qualifier against Angola is crucial for the nation's FIFA ranking.

Speaking yesterday at a pre-match interview held at Somhlolo National Stadium, where the Angolan team were delayed, Ntibane stressed the significance of a positive result for the 159th-ranked team, Sihlangu.

"This game for us is very crucial... there are FIFA rankings at stake, which are very important for the country and for future upcoming tournaments," remarked the interim coach, who stepped up from the assistant role following Zdravko Logarusic’s recent departure. He admitted the nation’s current ranking was ‘not impressive’, highlighting that a strong showing could offer a much-needed psychological boost for the players.

Ntibane also underlined the value of home field advantage and the determination it instils. "Playing at home; we know the mentality behind that. No one wants to lose at home so that is another form of motivation," he continued, adding that the home environment was a ‘secret weapon’.

National team and Zambian giants ZESCO United captain Lindo 'Bhabhalazi' Mkhonta urged the nation to turn out in large numbers to support the team.

Angola, who sit fourth in Group D with 10 points compared to Eswatini's two, arrived late yesterday due to flight schedules. Their Coach, Patrice Beaumelle, acknowledged that they are wary of Sihlangu's fast-attacking style and expressed hope that the late arrival would not derail his squad.

Eswatini, who anchor Group D, will feature five international players in the 3pm kick-off at Somhlolo National Stadium.
