Madam,
How does one overcome the constant battle in their mind? Consider a person coming from very humble beginnings, yet with a solid dream. Who would expect something great from a child born and raised by addicts? Those addicts are the main reason they wanted a different destiny for themselves, but the world wasn’t ready to give them a fair chance. Other children were brought up in warm and loving homes, whereas they had to find that warmth for themselves.
What happened to the kind people in this world? The happier and cheerleading ones who sincerely uplift others with a genuine smile. Why are we left with bitter human beings who are willing to burn bridges if something is not benefitting them? Just because someone is a product of addicts or immoral people, it doesn’t mean that they are destined to end up like their past generation.
A child of drug addicts or prostitutes can be the greatest thing ever to grace our world. Circumstances and choices are not the same thing, as some children are born to live under difficult circumstances, whereas others are given a chance to make their own choices. There are some people in this world who are aware of the difficult situations one is going through, but they keep on piling more weight onto their shoulders until that particular person succumbs to the pressure and dies without realising their dreams.
Maybe we should ask ourselves this one particular question: How does one end up being an addict? What are they running away from? Mistakes are part of our everyday lives, even though everyone has to be held accountable for their mistakes.
We live in a troublesome world which requires each one of us to take good care of ourselves by healing the broken parts of our souls. Healing is a journey and it requires one to be mentally strong.
The gigantic question is: How is one supposed to heal if all we do is cover up the wounds and hope they will miraculously go away? Our current reality urges us to look at those wounds and recognise them for what they are. We need to dig deep into our moral lens and be completely honest about who got hurt and how. The process of healing is long and mistakes are definitely part of it as one emerges from being a survivor to becoming who they really are.
No one is permanently broken and picking up those broken pieces turns them into a mirror whereby one ends up seeing a true reflection of themselves. The world is full of survivors; people we care about but never knew were suffering in silence. It is time for them to know that you are there to listen. It is also your time to know the survivors in your life and to listen to their stories.
May all the survivors live beyond the phase of surviving and reclaim their lives so they can live them to their maximum capacity, as well as explore all their possibilities. We have lost so many good soldiers along the way because of the cruel side of life. Be the reason someone out there still hopes and longs for a better tomorrow. Be your brother’s keeper by taking care of each other’s mental health.
