Madam,
I have a few issues to discuss. I will start with the DNA test issue, I once shared my insight regarding DNA testing to register a birth certificate. I’m in so much pain and relate to what is unfolding to the alleged father, in your publication as I was and I still consider myself in a similar situation. I took the DNA test in 2008 and results came back saying I’m excluded from being a father to the said child. Up to the present day, the mother still insists I’m the father. I availed myself for a second DNA and said I’m not paying this time around, as I had paid the first one, costing E3 000. She and her uncles failed to pay, so no second DNA test was done.
Furthermore, it was so surprising and disheartening to see and hear uncles joining the wagon calling me names and one cannot understand the state of mind you’re in and the negative things that went through my mind, as a solution to this. I thank God being a cop with values and a man of self-esteem made me the man I am even today. I did report the matter to the Social Welfare Offices in Manzini. Her arrogance was on another level. Even today that matter is still hanging. I rest my case for now.
Coming to the issue of GBV, it has been mentioned a million times and today, we are still talking about it. It’s our fathers, mothers, sisters, aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, sons and daughters dying in the hands of their so-called loved ones. Kuyoze kube nini solo kunje. I feel this matter is not being addressed in its entirety and no one is willing to do so, as all those in the front line don’t wish to tackle issues head on.
Let me make an example about the situation at hand as reported by this publication. After two DNA tests and the mother still insists the man is the father. Who is there for the alleged father? Who is telling his story? Who is really looking into his case now? No one even knows what is going through his mind. We’ve seen brutal endings to mothers and children before and surely, we don’t want to ever see that again in our beautiful kingdom.
To the alleged father: My brother you are not alone, stay calm even if there’s no sign that the storm will end, but it will end. Also, these are matters I once said about government needing to make policies and laws to guide DNA testing issue. These issues need to be addressed as a matter of urgency before we lose lives.
Coming to the ID machine it has been said over and over. Government is failing emaSwati, how can a country have one ID card production machine, at 57 years of independence? I can’t say more about this problem, as the money is there for all to see, but nothing is done to assist basic needs such as this most important document.
