MBABANE – The Financial Services Regulatory Authority (FSRA) has reaffirmed its commitment to consumer empowerment and financial literacy.
Eswatini joins the global commemoration of the International Organisation of Securities Commissions (IOSCO) World Investor Week (WIW) 2025.
Running from October 13 to 31, this year’s campaign focuses on the theme ‘Investor Resilience: Navigating the Uncertainties of Tomorrow,’ underscoring the need for consumers to make informed financial decisions in an era marked by rapid technological change, innovation and economic uncertainty.
In his opening statement, FSRA Chief Executive Officer Ncamiso T Ntshalintshali emphasised that investor education is no longer a luxury but a necessity. He said it forms the cornerstone of financial inclusion, consumer protection and economic empowerment.
“When consumers are informed, they are better equipped to avoid fraud and play an active role in the stability of our financial system,” Ntshalintshali said.
Over the past year, the FSRA has achieved significant milestones in strengthening investor education across Eswatini’s financial sector. Ntshalintshali highlighted the authority’s efforts through the Department of Risk-Based Supervision, which has continued to expand oversight and guidance for the capital markets industry.
Recently, the FSRA collaborated with the Eswatini Stock Exchange Commission (ESEC) to host a series of investor education sessions, including campus outreach programmes targeting young people. The authority has also worked closely with financial service providers (FSPs) to encourage inclusive access to investment opportunities and promote financial literacy among ordinary emaSwati.
Recognising the vital role of young people in shaping the future of Eswatini’s economy, the FSRA has taken investor education directly to institutions of higher learning. This includes scheduled discussions on UNESWA FM, primarily aimed at university students and surrounding communities.
Ntshalintshali said the radio initiative seeks to simplify complex investment topics and help young listeners understand the importance of responsible financial decisions.
