LOBAMBA – Royal command!

In a move set to transform the country’s sporting landscape, His Majesty King Mswati III has intensified calls for the construction of a state-of-the-art stadium capable of accommodating at least 40 000 fans.

The King made the pronouncement during the Ingwenyama Cup finals at Somhlolo National Stadium, where a flawless fusion of football and culture saw throngs of passionate emaSwati pack the existing arena to capacity. Addressing the nation and over 8 000 fans during the half-time interval of the clash between Green Mamba and Nsingizini Hotspurs, His Majesty noted that the historic Somhlolo is becoming too small to house the growing number of spectators.

In a significant moment before his address, the King extended his warmest wishes to all women for Mother’s Day.

The occasion was marked by the historic presence of Her Majesty the Indlovukazi, who attended the finals for the first time.

His Majesty revealed that the vision for a larger, modern facility is already in motion, stating that plans are already in place. This new development is not merely about seating capacity; the King highlighted that a well-equipped facility is essential to train and produce a national team capable of qualifying for major international tournaments, including the Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON).
