MBABANE – A blockbuster green showdown awaits today as seasoned campaigners Green Mamba confront ambitious treble-chasing Nsingizini Hotspurs.

Experience and ambition will collide spectacularly when Green Mamba and Nsingizini Hotspurs battle for Ingwenyama Cup glory at Somhlolo National Stadium today from 3:30pm. At stake in the highly-anticipated ‘Itintile’ final is a staggering E1.45 million prize, TotalEnergies CAF Confederation Cup qualification and the right to rule Eswatini football’s grandest knockout stage.

For Inyok’eluhlazane, this is a mission driven by revenge and history. They are chasing a third Ingwenyama Cup crown after previously triumphing in the 2019/20 and 2023/24 seasons. More than 10 players from their last victorious campaign remain in the squad, giving gaffer Bongani Mhlongo a battle-hardened core familiar with the pressures of major finals.

Leading that experienced group is influential skipper Sabelo ‘Sikhali’ Ndzinisa alongside Njabulo ‘D4D’ Ndlovu, who could each lift the prestigious trophy for a fifth time, should their side prevail. Midfield maestro Banele ‘Pupu’ Sikhondze is also eyeing a fourth Ingwenyama Cup medal, having won three during his stint with Mbabane Swallows.

Other seasoned campaigners such as Mthunzi ‘Xavi’ Mkhontfo, Njabulo ‘Magwegwe’ Magagula and Mbongeni ‘Mshishi’ Magagula further strengthen a side desperate to reclaim dominance after losing 1-0 to Nsingizini Hotspurs in last September’s 8Bet Trade Fair Cup final.

Yet standing in their path is arguably the country’s most ambitious side this season. Insingizi Yezulu are no longer viewed as outsiders. The league leaders and reigning 8Bet Trade Fair Cup champions arrive at the final carrying dreams of a remarkable season treble.

South African tactician Mandla Qhogi’s side have blended fearless ambition with tactical discipline, transforming themselves into one of the country’s most formidable outfits.

Experienced figures such as Kingsley Kwakyi and Ayanda Gadlela are expected to lead Qhogi’s pack into the battlefield. The midfield trio of Sizwe ‘Madumane’ Khumalo, Thubelihle Mavuso and Bongiswa ‘Pumba’ Dlamini will be pivotal in ball distribution. Meanwhile, the team’s relentless momentum has made them genuine favourites in some quarters.

The clash is also expected to produce a fascinating duel in the race for the Golden Boot award. ‘Sikhali’ and Nsingizini’s Senzo ‘Mbhobho’ Ndlovu have each netted four goals in the competition and remain in pursuit of Manzini Sea Birds striker Philani ‘Mkasabuli’ Mkhonto, who leads the scoring charts with five despite his side’s elimination. A brace in the final could see either player pocket the E10 000 top goalscorer prize.
