LOZITHA – His Majesty King Mswati III is happy that Swazis are registering for this year’s elections.

The King said this yesterday during the presentation of credentials by Ambassadors Christian Mauwly from Switzerland and Serge Segura from France at Lozitha Palace.

He said, “I am impressed to learn that a number of Swazis stood up to go to the registration centres, the turnout is encouraging indeed.
“We are happy to see that Swazis, when time for registration arrived,  showed initiative and supported the system.”

The King said he was sure that during the elections rightly deserved candidates would be elected to go to Parliament.
The King in his speech of welcoming Ambassador Mauwly said the two countries had been friends for many years.

He said he was happy that Switzerland was renewing the relations that exist between Swaziland and the Swiss.
“We are grateful for the support of your country through the Red Cross and other institutions, in supporting developmental activities of the country,” said the King.
He said the Red Cross had been helpful in quite a number of disasters that struck the country in different forms.

He said it was important to develop a country with a strong economy but unfortunately the country was pulled back due to the economic crisis which affected many countries in the world.

Expansion

The King noted that economically things were becoming better even though there was still room for expansion.
He said he trusted that the new ambassador would be visiting different ministries to see what programmes both countries could do together in order to realise the  level of development the Swiss have reached.

His Majesty said he trusted that Mauwly would encourage many busi-nesspeople from Switzerland to explore the opportunities of investments as the country was in a drive to attract business into Swaziland.
Exchange programmes between the two countries were encouraged by His Majesty and he said this could help develop skills for Swaziland.
Ambassador Mauwly in his speech said he has come to renew the expression of friendship between the two countries.

He said both countries have more in common than just a few letters in the alphabet.
Meanwhile the new France Ambassador Segura invited His Majesty King Mswati III to a an African Summit to be held in France scheduled for December 6 and 7, 2013.

He said the summit organised by France President Francois Hollande, was a response to his worry about the security situation of some African states and population threatened by terrorist groups.
