KONTJINGILA—Senate President Gelane Zwane has said she does not fear death; she believes in God who has been her pillar in her life.

Zwane said even if she were to die, the chieftaincy dispute which has divided the Simelane clan will still be concluded with her family assuming leadership of the area.
She said: “Even if I died without having appointed the chief, members of my immediate family that is Lusendvo will still appoint the chief of the area.”

She said she had full belief of the country’s traditional structures which she said have not disappointed her in this matter thus far.
“There is no one who has the authority to wrestle away the chieftaincy from me,” she said in our exclusive interview.
She said the Simelane chieftaincy was in her full grip and further said the chieftaincy was only confined to her immediate family alone and has no doubts that the family will survive the test that it is currently being put through.

Instead of despairing Zwane is buoyant about the issues surrounding the disputed chieftaincy of the area.
She said she was the leader of the area now and the scenario is still going to remain so until she appoints the chief. She said that she was not in a hurry to appoint the chief and asked all those who are pressurising her to install the chief to back off.

Zwane is very defiant, boasting about having the last laugh in the whole chieftaincy debacle that has engulfed her area.
This comes about after a certain faction within the Simelane clan appointed its own chief and took him to Ludzidzini to present him to the country’s leadership. Even though the Ludzidzini Council led by Governor Jim Gama accepted the appointed ‘chief’, efforts of presenting the chief to His Majesty the King has thus far stalled and there is no clear explanation why the group is now having difficulty in getting an appointment with the king.

However Zwane is adamant that she is the only one who has the authority to install the chief of the area thus the failure of this faction in their endeavour to receive His Majesty’s blessings. She told this newspaper that she is the only one who has authority to appoint a chief in the area especially because the rights of doing such exclusively remained with her immediate family which she called Lusendvo and not the broader Simelane family.
She told this newspaper that people who are pressurising her to install a chief of the area should go to hell because she says she rules the area and the mandate of appointing the successor of her area solely remained with her.

Efforts

Zwane said she recognised the efforts of her distracters but said their efforts were all wasted because her family was in charge of the area.
She explained that there is no one outside the Simelane Lusendvo who has the authority to appoint the chief. She explained that Lusendvo contains members of her immediate family and not the broader Simelane family clan.

She said the ‘chief ‘ who was recently appointed was not a chief because he was not a member of Lusendvo and further the people who appointed him are not members of this exclusive family members who have the authority to appoint the chief.
She said this was the main reason why the supposed chief installation has stalled. She said her family would install the chief when she was ready and explained that she was not ready right now.
