MBABANE – A friend in need is a friend indeed!

The above adage sounds true to MTN Premier League champions ‘elect’ Mbabane Swallows supporters, who will have their travelling or gate fee catered for by the ‘Birds’ sponsor, Eclipse Investments. Umkhonto KaShaka will play host to Ezulwini United in a league match penned for their newly found ‘Slaughter house’ at the Mkhuzweni Technical Centre today.

The Caleb Ngwenya-coached side have put a hand in the Holy Grail of Eswatini football trophy as they are five points clear of second placed defending champions Green Mamba. This was after they beat arch rivals Mbabane Highlanders 2-3 while Inyoka Eluhlazane dropped crucial points in their match against Nsingizini Hotspurs this past weekend.

Swallows’ vibrant Public Relations Officer (PRO) Knowledge ‘Bhambo’ Ngwenya disclosed that their sponsor had injected E10 000 to be used towards helping the supporters cut costs when going to the must win match against the ‘Stingers’. A win for the red and white capital city giants will confirm them as the 2023/24 MTN Premier League champions with a game to play. “Yes, it is true that our sponsor Eclipse has given us E10 000 which will go towards cutting the supporters’ travelling costs to the game tomorrow (today),” Ngwenya said.

He was, however; quick to highlight that they were yet to decide as the Management Committee (MC) on how to use the money. “We might hire buses for the supporters or even pay for them the E30 entrance fee,” he added. Ngwenya further urged the supporters to come in numbers to celebrate their seventh league title with the team at Mkhuzweni. “The players won’t disappoint them. I can attest to that from what I saw at training,” he said. Meanwhile, Swallows super fan Bondas Simelane thanked Eclipse for the support they had rendered to the team since coming on board. “They will surely reap their reward as tomorrow (today’ we are going to be crowned the champions,” Simelane said.
