MBABANE – As Nsingizini Hotspurs celebrate league glory, Zimbabwean clubs continue raiding their squad, adding two more liSwati sensations to the export list.

Eswatini’s football export tally received another boost yesterday, after Zimbabwean side Hardrock FC unveiled Nsingizini Hotspurs duo Thubelihle Mavuso and Yekisizwe ‘Madumane’ Khumalo. As per impeccable sources, they have penned down a two-year deal.

The attacking midfielders were first introduced by the Zimbabwe Castle Premiership outfit through the club’s official social media platforms before the MTN Premier League champions later confirmed that they had accepted offers for the players’ permanent transfers. Hardrock are listed as one of the highest paying clubs in Zimbabwe.

Last year, Hardrock players were reportedly given US$16 000 by club owner Shepherd ‘Magodora’ Chahwanda to share after beating Sheasham 1-0 in a Central Region Soccer League top of the table clash.

This equates to E260 320 as per yesterday’s exchange rate provided by Zim Sports Connect. This was prior to their promotion to the elite league. Chahwanda made headlines in March after he purportedly built a modern football stadium in his hometown of Kwekwe and named it Chahwanda Stadium.

Privately funded, with support from Prophet Walter Magaya, it seats 15 000 and meets Confederation of African Football (CAF) standards.

Hardrock’s announcement ended days of speculation after reports emerged earlier this week that the pair had travelled to Zimbabwe via King Mswati III International Airport to negotiate contracts.

In statements released after the unveiling by Hardrock, Nsingizini confirmed the departures and expressed gratitude to the duo for their contribution to the club’s success.
