MBABANE – Actions will speak louder than words this time around.

This will be the case for any investor willing to join capital city giants Mbabane Swallows, as the search for a potential financier continues. Since last season, Swallows have made an open public call, inviting any interested parties to approach them regarding a potential takeover of the club.

Currently, the team have held discussions with two potential investors from the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC).

The first, Team JMR, met with the club at The George Hotel in Manzini two weeks ago.

Following an exchange of proposals, Team JMR Founder and President, Jean-Michel Rumanya, acknowledged the discussions but stated they are returning home to deliberate further before deciding whether to commit to running the club.

Last week, the red and white outfit welcomed another alleged group of investors from Kinshasa; DCMP-Imana Multisport Club.

Daring Club Motema Pembe (DCMP) competes in Linafoot Ligue One, the top division of professional football in the DRC. As a multisport organisation based in Kinshasa, the club is widely recognised for its football team, though it also maintains sections for other sports, including basketball, volleyball and handball.

Meanwhile, MC Chairman Bongani ‘AB’ Dlamini said that negotiations with potential investors are progressing well. Dlamini expressed optimism that positive news will be shared with the public when something positive has been yielded. He stated that the club has changed its negotiation strategy to ensure that any forthcoming agreement is tangible.

The chairman emphasised that the plan is to unveil an investor who is fully committed to the club’s financial responsibilities.

This approach marks a departure from last season, when the club unveiled a Mozambican investor Niczar Amade. That deal eventually collapsed after the investor failed to inject the promised capital into the financially-strained ‘Umkhonto kaShaka’. Furthermore, the appointment of experienced Coach Dario Monteiro on a two-year contract never materialised.
