MBABANE – The 2025/26 MTN Premier League is set for a blockbuster opening, according to the new season’s master fixture list.

The Premier League schedule, which surfaced yesterday afternoon, shows that the long-awaited league kick-off will take place early next month, with an elongated season stretching until mid-June next year.

The leaked fixture list includes a line-up of mouth-watering matches for Saturday, October 4, where the country’s traditional ‘big clubs’ will be involved in high-stakes encounters. The traditional big teams are Mbabane Highlanders, Mbabane Swallows and Manzini Wanderers. October 4 is seemingly set to serve as a grand opening for the new campaign, with key games planned for the Mavuso Sports Centre.

Reigning champions, Nsingizini Hotspurs, are scheduled to begin their title defence against capital city giants Mbabane Highlanders. The second-round encounter between these two giants last season is still fresh in the minds of many fans.

Highlanders delivered an unexpected blow to the Shiselweni-based outfit, defeating them 2-1 in a game that was marked by chaotic scenes and nearly cost ‘Insingizi Yezulu’ the title. The defeat saw Mandla Qhogi’s side drop to second place, allowing Leopard to temporarily seize the top spot.
