MBABANE – They mean business!

Manzini Wanderers are reportedly searching for investors to help them financially for the upcoming 2025/26 season. The maroon and white giants spent the whole of last season in the football wilderness, battling in court for their Premier League status.

The legal battle began when Wanderers lodged a protest over their city rivals, Denver Sundowns player Jimoh Moses. This was during their MTN Premier League relegation six-pointer match, which took place at Somhlolo National Stadium on May 19, 2024. Sundowns won the match 4-2.

The two teams were subsequently brought before the Eswatini Football Association (EFA) Disciplinary Committee (DC), which ruled in favour of Sundowns. Wanderers then took the matter to the EFA Appeals Board, which also ruled against them. They then sought intervention from the High Court, and the court ruled that the verdict by the EFA Appeals Board should be reviewed and set aside.

The Premier League of Eswatini (PLE), through Chairman Polycarp Dlamini, announced during a press briefing at Sigwaca House that Wanderers would be playing in the top division of local football this season. Reacting to the news, the Mlamuli ‘Mlaba’ Nkambule-captained side have started preparations for the 2025/26 campaign, which is set to begin with the 8Bet Trade Fair Cup later this month. A source close to the team has revealed that Wanderers are in talks with a businessman based in Pretoria as a potential investor.
