MBABANE – They mean business!

Mozambique elite league outfit Costa do Sol have made their intentions clear regarding the signing of Nsingizini Hotspurs utility player Kwakhe ‘Stopper’ Thwala by tabling a significantly increased offer.

Reports recently suggested that Costa do Sol had made a formal bid for the former Mbabane Swallows captain, initially offering personal terms of over E20 000 to the player and a transfer fee of E25 000 to ‘Insingizi Yezulu’.

The versatile star was noticeably missing from the Shiselweni-based side’s final match of 2025 against Sisonkhe, which they narrowly won 1-0. Fresh reports further suggest that he has now gone absent without official leave (AWOL) at Nsingizini ahead of the Shiselweni derby against Rangers on Saturday.

In a recent post-match interview, Nsingizini Head Coach Mandla Qhogi revealed that the former Young Buffaloes overlapping left-back had been granted what he described as ‘special leave’ to prepare for his exit from the club.

This publication revealed that Costa do Sol had offered Thwala a monthly salary of E22 000, bolstered by performance-related bonuses for wins, goals and assists, a package understood to be highly enticing to the player.

According to a source close to the negotiations regarding the player’s proposed move to Mozambique’s most successful club, the foreign team have now returned with an improved offer in a determined bid to lure him into their camp.

The Mozambicans have returned with a final but improved offer of E150 000 to Nsingizini, as they really want to sign Kwakhe this January,” the source said.

This publication  has reliably gathered that the Shiselweni-based side expect not less than E350 000 for the Sihlangu star.

The source added that the player is considering the international switch as he feels global scouts will shift their focus to the Mozambican league following the national team’s historic performance in the ongoing 2025 TotalEnergies Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) in Morocco. Mozambique reached the AFCON knockout round for the first time before they were crushed by Nigeria in the Last 16 this past Monday.

Mozambique top division side Costa do Sol have tabled an improved offer for Nsingizini Hotspurs and Sihlangu star Kwakhe Thwala.
