LOBAMBA – Eswatini’s Under-18 and Under-20 national handball teams jetted off on Saturday to partake in the IHF Trophy Africa – Zone 6 tournament in Lusaka, Zambia.
The delegation, led by Eswatini Handball Association (EHA) President Delisile Manyatsi, received an official send-off at the Olympafrica Centre on Saturday.
Representatives from the Eswatini Sport and Recreation Council (ESRC) and the Eswatini School Sports Association(ESSA) urged the squads to aim for the podium, emphasising that they are travelling to compete for gold rather than merely making up the numbers.
The tournament, which runs from April 28 to May 3, 2026, serves as a critical developmental platform and a qualification pathway for the continental phase of the International Hockey Federation (IHF) Trophy.
Eswatini will face stiff regional competition, with participating nations including hosts Zambia, Zimbabwe, Malawi, Lesotho and South Africa.
The teams depart with a boost in morale following a kit donation from REMIN, valued at over E4 500, specifically for the Under-17 (Under-18) players.
