EZULWINI – Local sports betting company MulaSport has sponsored the National First Division (NFD) to the tune of E4.5 million for the next three seasons.
The commitment was unveiled yesterday at the SibaneSami Hotel, with each season set to receive a sponsorship package of E1.5 million, as revealed by MulaSport Managing Director, Khanya Magagula.
This is the biggest sponsor in the history of the country’s football second-tier that will be a stand-alone league for the first time in over a decade. Premier League of Eswatini (PLE) long-time sponsor MTN Eswatini had opened a door for an independent sponsor to take the NFD, with MulaSport now coming on board.
In his opening remarks, Magagula expressed that MulaSport believes in responsible entertainment, community empowerment and youth development, values that the sponsorship now puts into action.
“Our decision to partner with the Premier League of Eswatini (PLE) and importantly, the NFD, is strategic and heartfelt,” he remarked, adding that the day marked a proud milestone for the local betting company.
“Today, we mark a proud milestone as MulaSport commits a total of E4.5 million over the next three years to support the growth and development of football in our beloved Kingdom of Eswatini,” Magagula revealed.
He stressed that the NFD is the foundation of Eswatini football talent—it is where dreams begin, where raw talent meets opportunity and where the stars of tomorrow are born. Magagula explained that it is where talent is mostly discovered and where players’ careers take shape, saying: “This is where MulaSport wants to be, where there is so much to be done to shape the future of the players.”
The Ministry of Sports, Culture and Youth Affairs was represented by Under Secretary Mzwandile Mtsetfwa, who relayed Minister Bongani Nzima’s remarks. Mtsetfwa expressed that the partnership marks a bold step forward in strengthening the foundation of football and creating new opportunities for growth.
