JOHANNESBURG – Young Buffaloes Ladies are eagerly waiting to know their fate following a dramatic 3-1 victory against Lesotho’s Kick4Life yesterday.
Cheers filled the AW Muller Stadium at the University of Johannesburg (UJ), as they celebrated their hard earned victory. This was during their HollywoodBets Confederation of African Football (CAF) Women’s Champions League/Council of Southern Africa Football Associations (COSAFA) Qualifiers last group B clash.
A sizable crowd of fans was kept on edges of their seats throughout the entire match, manned by Malawian referee Eness Gumbi, who kept sprinting to the Video Assistant Referee (VAR) to confirm her decisions. As if that was not enough, this match was stopped numerous times as paramedics rushed to players who were heard wailing due to tackles. Among the notable attendees were Buffaloes’ new Governor, Delisa Tsabedze.
It was Kick4Life’s Nteboheleng Mohoshela who broke the deadlock early into this match, capitalising on a defensive blunder. Meanwhile, Buffaloes midfielder Simile Marks sent her shot next to the post when she attempted an equaliser in the 25th minute. Just four minutes later, Buffaloes had a scare as substitute Mpholokeng Liphalamo was left one-on-one with their goalkeeper Nokwanda Mamba. Regardless, Mamba held her composure before grabbing the ball with both hands.
Buffaloes finally found the breakthrough when Nonjabuliso Mokgale scored an equaliser, sending a blistering shot past the short Boelo Lepheana in the 38th minute. The two sides were tied to a 1-all draw when they went for the breather.
