MBABANE - Sandile ‘Nkomishi’ Ginindza is set to launch the SG Nkomish Academy in partnership with South Africa’s Young Lions Academy.

Eswatini’s football community is buzzing with excitement as one of the nation’s most celebrated goalkeepers, Sandile ‘Nkomishi’ Ginindza, prepares to launch his new youth development initiative, the SG Nkomish Academy, in January 2026.

Ginindza, a former international known for his heroic performances – including a memorable penalty shoot-out display that helped Eswatini triumph over Zambia in the 2016 Council of Southern Africa Football Associations (COSAFA) Cup – has enjoyed a distinguished career.

He has turned out for prominent Eswatini clubs such as Manzini Wanderers and Mbabane Swallows, as well as South African sides Sivutsa Stars and Mbombela United.  Now, the experienced shot-stopper is channelling his expertise into nurturing the next generation of talent.

The academy, based in Mbabane, aims to provide structured training and opportunities for young players across the country. Arrangements can be made for those living further afield, ensuring wider accessibility.

A key highlight of the venture is its strategic partnership with Young Lions Sports Academy (YLSA) from South Africa. Based in Carletonville, Gauteng, YLSA has rapidly risen through the ranks since its founding in 2021, earning a place in the competitive Gauteng Development League (GDL) Promotional League.

The GDL Promotional League, organised by South African Football Association (SAFA) Gauteng, serves as a vital feeder system to the premier Gauteng Development League – one of Africa’s largest youth development competition.

Featuring top academies from clubs like Mamelodi Sundowns, Kaizer Chiefs and Orlando Pirates, the main GDL offers high-visibility matches often streamed on SuperSport Schools.  Success in the Promotional League can lead to promotion, providing emerging teams with greater exposure and scouting opportunities.

Talented players identified through SG Nkomish Academy will have the chance to join YLSA and compete in this prestigious South African youth setup, opening doors to professional pathways.

To kick off the project, trials will be held in Eswatini for the following age groups; Under-13 (2013–2014); Under-15 (2011–2012) and Under-17 (2009–2010).

It is worth noting that scouts from South Africa will be present on the day to evaluate prospects. Interested players are encouraged to attend and showcase their skills. For further details or to register interest, contact 7865 2592 or +27 065 892 5243.
