MBABANE – The future of Eswatini football took centre stage yesterday at Sigwaca House as the Premier League of Eswatini (PLE) honoured the rising stars of the Under-19 division.
Young Buffaloes, who demonstrated exceptional consistency throughout the season, dominated the ceremony, sweeping the top team and individual honours.
While the senior 2024/25 MTN Premier League campaign saw Nsingizini Hotspurs finish at the summit, the day belonged to the Young Buffaloes Under-19 squad, who were officially crowned league champions following an outstanding season.
Presided over by Development Committee members Bongani ‘Bhanyaza’ Mdluli and Gcina Ndwandwe, the ceremony acknowledged the hard work invested in the league’s junior ranks.
The Young Buffaloes contingent was the toast of the day, with their players and technical staff reflecting on a historic campaign. Best Coach, Sifiso Maseko, expressed his pride in his squad’s achievements, noting that guiding the youngsters required more than just tactical acumen. “It was not easy,” Maseko admitted. “It is tough, especially with the young kids. You need to be a parent, implement discipline and guide them. I am grateful to have made history in my first season with this team, following in the footsteps of Mbongwa Dlamini. I’ve learned so much from him, and the players really motivated me and supported me through this journey.”
‘Buffs’ also celebrated their Player of the Season, Bayanda Magagula, who credited his personal development to a rigorous off-pitch regime.
