MANZINI – It was the same old story as Young Buffaloes hammered Manzini Wanderers 4-1, handing them their 14th defeat of the season.

The struggling giants have now gone 116 days without a victory, with their last win recorded against Ubombo Sugar on November 13, 2025.

This five-goal MTN Premier League Week 20 spectacle was staged under a hot, clouded sun at Mavuso Sports Centre yesterday. The defeat, witnessed by a sizeable crowd, spoke volumes about the predicament faced by the ‘Weslians’.

The result further deepened the relegation pit for the once-respected side, as they remain on a mere eight points with only 10 games left in the season. Following the victory, Young Buffaloes collected crucial maximum points to bolster their title hopes, moving to 36 points.

Buffaloes made their intentions clear early on. Njabulo Gama sent Mozambican goalkeeper Mario Jamine the wrong way with less than 10 minutes played, following a neat pass from Bongwa ‘Logwaja’ Matsebula.

In contrast, Nyanga ‘Crooks’ Hlophe’s charges looked completely lost. An effort from Malwande Gwebu was blocked by the Buffaloes’ defence, marshalled by Sibonelo Sibandze. Shortly after, the Dominic Kunene-led side extended their lead through Captain ‘Logwaja’, who converted a Mazwi Sihlongonyane cross.

The ‘Weslians’ veteran winger Wonder ‘Samba Jive’ Nhleko struck off-target from skipper Siphamandla Manana’s well-crafted header, but it never rained but poured for the home side. Buffaloes marksman Sandile ‘Saviola’ Gamedze stretched the lead to 3-0 in the 26th minute from another Mazwi’s cross. In an attempt to prevent further damage, ‘Crooks’ made two early tactical changes, bringing on Lwazi ‘Shumi’ Mamba and Sandile ‘Messi’ Maseko.
