Old Mutual unveils Sizotsa Funeral Cover

Old Mutual Eswatini today launched Sizotsa Funeral Cover, a market-first funeral insurance solution that the company says will transform how families access and experience funeral cover across Eswatini. Built for simplicity, speed and dignity, Sizotsa introduces a suite of features designed to meet the needs of singles, young adults, elderly clients and extended families.

Key features of Sizotsa Funeral Cover:

Cover for life.

Covers up to 18 lives.

Individual plans for singles, young adults and the elderly.

Family plan: Covers 9 lives (6 children, 2 spouses).

Extended plan: Covers 8 additional relatives (grandparents, parents and in-laws, cousins, uncles, aunts).

Minimum cover from E10 000; maximum cover up to E80 000.

Entry ages: 18–60 for family benefit; 18–70 for other dependents (coverage for those 56+ is capped at E15 000).

Cover term options from 26 weeks up to 21 years (25 years if in school).

Digital convenience: Sign-ups available via WhatsApp for quick, at-home enrolment.

A return to retail, with 180 years of mutual heritage Old Mutual, whose business roots include writing the first policy 180 years ago, says Sizotsa marks a renewed push into the retail market.

Alongside product innovation, the company is rolling out broker training, community campaigns and upgraded branch service processes. The insurer emphasises fast, compassionate claims handling and clearer policy terms to improve the customer experience at times of grief. Sizotsa streamlines the funeral cover experience with faster claims processing, clearer terms and enhanced broker tools.

The product is aimed at reducing confusion and delay at times when families need compassion and certainty most. Old Mutual highlights faster, respectful claims handling and strengthened support networks for beneficiaries.Old Mutual Eswatini Chief Executive Oficer (CEO) Muzi Bell described Sizotsa as more than just a product launch. “Sizotsa is more than a policy. It is a promise that we will stand with people when they need us  the most,” he said.

He explained that the product was shaped by real community feedback. “This is a product born from listening to families who need dignity in difficult times, to brokers who asked for clarity and speed, and to our teams who demanded a solution that truly serves communities across Eswatini.”

Bell said the insurer aims to change how funeral cover is experienced. “Too often, the process has been slow, confusing and impersonal at the moment when families deserve compassion and certainty. Sizotsa changes that.

It is simple to understand, quick to access and designed around the realities families face.”He added that Old Mutual is committed to higher service standards across the market. “We’re introducing faster claims processing, clearer terms and stronger support networks for beneficiaries.  We are committing Old Mutual Eswatini to a standard of service that elevates the entire market.” Sizotsa is available immediately through Old Mutual Eswatini’s broker network, branches and via WhatsApp enrolment, as the company begins a nationwide rollout supported by community campaigns and broker training initiatives.
