MBABANE - A truck driver was rushed to Mbabane Government Hospital yesterday morning after losing control of the truck, which then fell onto the road, blocking the fast lane at the Mangwaneni Traffic Circle.

The incident occurred around noon. Information gathered from those present at the scene indicated that the driver lost control of the truck while negotiating a gentle corner. It is reported that he was on his way to refuel the truck at the nearest filling station when the accident happened.

At the time, the truck was blocking the fast lane with a load of planks leaning against the concrete median. The driver was reportedly taken to hospital for medical attention, while the road traffic circle  was temporalilyclosed.

It was further understood that arrangements were being made to obtain another truck to ferry and tow the damaged vehicle.

However, there were discussions suggesting that the process might take the entire day, potentially resulting in the road remaining closed.

As of around 6pm, the road was still closed to allow the company’s employees to offload the planks.

Notably, this was the second accident involving a truck carrying planks at the same spot.
