MBABANE - A high-level business delegation from Turkmenistan arrived in the Kingdom of Eswatini today, receiving a warm welcome from the Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, Pholile Shakantu and the Home Affairs Minister, Princess Lindiwe.
This visit follows His Majesty’s significant trip to Turkmenistan last year, reinforcing the commitment to strengthen diplomatic ties between the two nations. The delegation is led by Abdurakhmanov Khydyrberdi Bayrammyradovich, Owner and Founder of Aydyn Gijeler Holding LTD, a vertically integrated industrial company operating in various sectors, including manufacturing, infrastructure, electronics and IT solutions. Ambassador Thami Dlamini is overseeing and facilitating the programme.
On August 5, 2025, Eswatini and Turkmenistan took a pivotal step in their relationship by signing a Protocol on the Establishment of Diplomatic Relations. The agreement, signed by Senator Shakantu on behalf of Eswatini and Rasi Meredow for Turkmenistan, establishes formal channels for diplomatic, economic and technical cooperation.
This partnership is strategically significant for the two landlocked countries facing similar development challenges. The newly-formed relations create opportunities across vital sectors such as energy, agriculture, climate resilience, infrastructure and technology, while enhancing multilateral coordination in peace-building and sustainable development.
The visit by the Turkmen business delegation represents a progressive move toward establishing lasting partnerships that foster economic growth and development strategies for both Eswatini and Turkmenistan. As the two nations embark on this collaborative journey, the focus remains on addressing shared challenges and exploring avenues for mutual advancement.
