Thandokwakhe Mseleku, known widely as Thando Comedy on social media platforms , hails from the coastal province of KwaZulu-Natal in South Africa. Born and raised in the small village of uMgababa, he spent his formative years immersed in the rich cultural tapestry of the region. His early education commenced at Isidiya Primary School, followed by secondary studies at uMnini Secondary School and uMcothoyi High School. With a keen interest in global travel and tourism, Mseleku pursued tertiary education at Elangeni College in Pinetown, specialising in Travel and Tourism. His background reflects a blend of humble beginnings and a burgeoning passion for storytelling and entertainment.
Currently, Mseleku is a multifaceted content creator and entertainer. His pursuits span comedy sketches, movies and stand-up comedy performances.
“I am also an actor, writer and film director”. His creative endeavours are driven by a desire to produce relatable content that resonates across diverse audiences. Mseleku’s work is not confined to a single medium; instead, he actively engages in various facets of the entertainment industry, constantly seeking innovative ways to connect with his viewers. His commitment to his craft has established him as a notable figure within the African entertainment landscape. Mseleku embarked on his comedy journey in 2020 amid the global COVID-19 pandemic. The circumstances of lockdown and social distancing meant that many faced uncertainties and disruptions to their routines.
For Mseleku, this period became a catalyst for creativity. He transitioned from his job as an Uber driver to exploring content creation, initially focusing on comedy sketches. His first video, born out of boredom and a desire to entertain, unexpectedly went viral. “My first video went viral and I got encouraged to do more and I never looked back till this day.”
The essence of Mseleku’s comedy lies in its being relatable. He predominantly draws inspiration from everyday life experiences that resonate with a broad audience spectrum. His content touches on universal themes that appeal equally to children and adults. Mseleku believes that the secret to his widespread popularity is his ability to craft stories that reflect shared human experiences.

Mseleku’s recent double visit to Eswatini marked a significant chapter in his career. His first trip was part of the Thenjiwe Unplugged comedy show, where he was captivated by the warmth and hospitality of the Eswatini people. “I felt in love with their culture and how they welcome visitors and I made a promise to come back again soon.” His subsequent visit was a collaborative effort with local comedian Mdura, culminating in a comedy show themed around the December holiday season. “We did the A festive Holiday, Comedy Show on December 13 at the Mbabane Theatre Club.” Reflecting on his success, Mseleku attributes much of his achievements to consistency. He considers himself fortunate to be able to focus entirely on his passion of creating content and entertaining others. His unwavering dedication and love for his craft serve as his primary motivation. Mseleku’s ability to stay committed amidst challenges has been instrumental in his rise within the competitive entertainment industry.
