MBABANE – The EFA Technical Centre hosted the Manzini Region schools competition this Tuesday as Day Two of the annual Inyatsi Schools Arts & Culture Competition unfolded.

In a high-stakes display of creative discipline, six schools from the Manzini Region secured their tickets to the national finals, though several others remain in a wait for the judges’ final tallies.

The atmosphere at Lobamba was intense as students competed across a variety of categories, including African Dance, Kwaito (Girls and Boys), Military, Street Drill, Show Prop and Cheer Girls. In the culture competition they competed in Sibhaca, Ummiso and  Ingadla.

The day saw performances from a diverse roster of institutions. Among those competing for a spot were Ekukanyeni High, Gundvwini High, Inyandza High and St Michael’s High. The primary school bracket featured St Theresa’s Primary, Ngwane Park Primary and Sydney Williams Primary, among others.

While six schools have already confirmed their automatic qualification by topping the charts, the fate of many others hangs in the balance.

The competition’s judging panel faces a task as the regional eliminations continue. According to Secretary General Thembisile Dlamini, the list of qualifiers for the fourth and fifth positions is still being compiled.

Due to the standard of performance this year, the competition may see over 30 schools qualifying across all regions. In such an event, the judges will be tasked with identifying the ‘Crème de la Crème’ of the fourth and fifth-placed finishers to fill the remaining slots in the final brackets.
