MBABANE – Fresh off a historic streak of local and international victories, His Majesty’s Correctional Services (HMCS) Choir has officially opened its doors to new vocal talent for the 2026 season.
The recruitment drive seeks to bolster what has become the most dominant Choral force in the SADC region. The choir is calling for candidates across all four vocal departments: Soprano, Alto, Tenor and Bass.
The timing of the recruitment follows a successful 2025, which saw the group cement its status as a benchmark for Choral discipline and artistry.
Under the baton of Maestro Melisizwe Zwane, the ensemble recently achieved significant milestones.
In December 2025, the choir was crowned the Best Choir in the SADC region at the Tiro Mpane Foundation National Choral Eisteddfod (TMF-NCE) in Sun City, South Africa. They took first place in the elite ‘Great Champions’ category with a score of 93.39 per cent defeating top-tier choirs from across Southern Africa.
Locally, the choir secured ‘Platinum honours’ at the 2025 Standard Bank Choral Music Championship, marking their third consecutive win and sixth overall title. The ensemble also successfully defended their title at the Ntjilo-Ntjilo Arts Festival, further demonstrating versatility in both Western Classical and African Traditional compositions.
Despite their status, the choir remains committed to nurturing fresh talent.
