MBABANE - The Eswatini International Comedy Festival (ECOFEST) revealed the first headliner for the second edition of the festival, set to take place on September 26, 2025.
Botswana comedy sensation Boldwin Bals will headline this comedy event, promising an unforgettable evening of laughter and entertainment. The festival will showcase a dynamic blend of local and international comedic talent.
Bals is a seasoned Motswana comedian and event host who began his comedy journey in 2016 with a spontaneous open mic set. Nearly a decade later, he stands as one of Botswana’s most recognised names in stand-up comedy.
He has performed on major stages and co-founded the Gaborone Comedy Club. Known for his sharp wit, lively delivery and strong stage presence, Bals is expected to bring an electrifying performance to ECOFEST, delivering jokes that resonate with audiences and laughter that lingers long after the show ends.
The second edition of this annual event will take place at the SibaneSami Hotel in Ezulwini.
ECOFEST was founded by charismatic comedian Bonginkosi Dlamini, affectionately known as Dr Shakes. Dlamini’s vision for the festival is to showcase comedic talent from across southern Africa, while highlighting local and emerging artists. “This year marks the second edition of ECOFEST and we aim to make it bigger and better than the inaugural event,” Dlamini stated, emphasising the festival’s growth and its significance in Eswatini’s entertainment calendar.
