MBABANE – The Eswatini Revenue Service (ERS) has announced a significant leadership change following the departure of Vusi Ngcamphalala from his role as Commissioner for Domestic Taxes.

Ngcamphalala, who has had a long-standing association with the tax authority, first joined ERS in 2012 as Financial Controller. After serving for several years, he pursued opportunities outside the organisation before returning in 2022 to take up the commissioner post.

During his tenure, ERS recorded notable improvements in voluntary tax compliance and made key strides in its ongoing digital transformation agenda.

Ngcamphalala was widely credited for spearheading efforts to modernise revenue collection systems and strengthening the authority’s engagement with taxpayers.

ERS Commissioner General, Brightwell Nkambule, paid tribute to his contribution, describing his leadership as impactful and forward-looking.

“Vusi has made a meaningful and lasting contribution to ERS and to the country,” Nkambule said in the statement.

“Under his leadership, we strengthened voluntary compliance and advanced our digital capabilities in support of better service and sustainable revenue outcomes. We are grateful for his commitment and professionalism and we wish him every success in his new assignment.”

The ERS further confirmed that Riccardo Kruger, who currently serves as Director for Client Services, has been appointed Acting Commissioner for Domestic Taxes with immediate effect.
