MBABANE – Enraged national team Sihlangu head coach, Valere Billen has lashed out at a section of the country’s football coaches, accusing them of being lazy.

The frank speaking coach, interviewed yesterday at the National Football Association of Swaziland (NFAS) offices in Sigwaca House said some if not a majority of the coaches have not even bothered to check on him to seek advise on some tactical and technical aspects of the game.

Billen disclosed that since his arrival in the country about six months ago, he has always wanted to meet and share ideas with his local colleagues.

"Can you imagine that in the last meeting, which was held at the Technical Centre when we started, none of the coaches had arrived for the meeting I had gone to great lengths to ensure that I prepared thoroughly for them but I was greatly disappointed. However, by the time we finished we had about 23 coaches yet we were expecting over 40 of them. I also have DVDs to give out free of charge to all the coaches, who would be interested but until now, none of the coaches have even approached me.The DVD costs about E1 000 and it has all the latest football technologies," he said. Billen noted that they need to work hand in hand with the local coaches for the game in Swaziland to improve."I am an experienced coach, who has worked in Europe and has occupied high positions like being the Head of Education in football. I am not saying I want to impose my philosophy but want to ensure we help each other out because I have the software as well, which can go a long way in helping us improve the game in the country," he said.

Billen has been tasked with leading Sihlangu in the CHAN game against Angola.
