Dinani Vilakati crowned Badminton Open champ
MBABANE – Emlalatini Development Centre’s (EDC) Dinani Vilakati won the Badminton Swaziland (BSD) Open tournament held at the Correctional Services, Matsapha on Saturday.
The tournament, which was played in a point system, saw Vilakati recording 68 points while Nelson Magagula came second with 62 points.
Siphiwe Hurube was on third position with 56 points.
EDC players dominated in the tournament as Nomcebo Maseko topped all the ladies, obtaining 63 points to be the champion. She was followed by Gugu Dlamini with 56 points.
attendance
BSD executive member and administration officer Mbali Ginindza said the attendance was not so good, as about 30 players attended, yet they had expected more than 50. She said most players failed to make it because it was a holiday.“We are happy with the standard of the game. Most players have improved and our membership is increasing. We hope more players will attend the next tournament to be announced soon,” she said.
The winners were presented with golf T-shirts.
