MBABANE – Dreams delayed are not dreams denied.

This adage holds true for former Denver Sundowns flying winger Mike Dombo, who made a sensational move to Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) giants AS Vita, this week. The soft-spoken player, who has spent over seven years playing in the MTN Premier League, will see his move in his native country earning him a signing-on fee of E499 949 ( US$28 000) and a salary of E53 000 (US$3000). The player is said to have signed a lucrative two-year deal.

The former Manzini Wanderers player who is from the DRC said he was over the moon about making the move to the DRC giants. “I’m excited to make the move to AS Vita which has always been the team I wanted to play for since my childhood. My family members support the team and joining AS Vita is a dream move for me. AS Vita is one of the biggest teams in the country and every player grows with the dream of playing for it one day,” he said.

Association Sportive Vita Club, more commonly known as AS Vita Club, is a Congolese professional football club based in Kinshasa. The team which is under the leadership of renowned DRC female lawyer Bestine Kazadi who  made history by becoming the first ever woman to be elected as President of AS Vita C, was founded in 1935 by Honoré Essabe, under the name of Renaissance in rue Usoke in Kinshasa. The name changed in 1939 into Diables Rouges, in 1942 into Victoria Club and finally in 1971 to Vita Club. On December 17, 1976, it took the official statue of the omnisports club with many sections.

The winger, who recently attended trials in Malta, Europe went on to reveal that he wanted to help the club do well in the African club competitions. “Our league starts next month and I want to help the team do well in the league. There is also the champions league which is a competition I want to play in and repay the faith that the team has shown towards me,’’ Dombo said.

Thank you Eswatini, I will always remain indebted to all of you,” he added.

Meanwhile, the player will join his fellow countryman and former Mbabane Swallows defensive midfielder Papy Tshishimbi Kabamba, who is managed by Saleh and Mbabane Swallows defender Kingu Pemba.
