MBABANE – It is back in action.

Soccer legends in the country will have a memorable festive season, as InstaCash has presented them with E200 000 to play for. InstaCash yesterday at Sigwaca House handed over this amount to Eswatini Social Football Association (ESFA) for a nationwide festive season soccer tournament. This tournament has been termed InstaCash Social Soccer Festive Tournament.
The tournament, which will be the first of its kind, is expected to be played from December 17 until January 21, next year. It will be played in two phases. Phase one is sponsored to a tune of E160 000 while the second stage, which is termed ‘champ of champs’, has a share of E40 000. This inaugural tournament was unveiled yesterday as Sigwaca House by InstaCash Managing Director (MD) Mandla ‘Cheeks’ Nxumalo after the Lobamba League draw. “The way we’ve broken it down, there are eight zones and for each zone for phase one, we’ll put E20 000 which makes the first phase entitled to the E160 000. The organisers will help in breaking it up for that zone,” Nxumalo said.

‘Cheeks’ further said InstaCash as an alternative and independent mobile money service in the country, they received quite a lot of proposals but they loved the way this one was packaged. He said it was in line with their aims and objectives as a company as it was inclusive and centralised in the rural areas. Meanwhile, the  Chief Organiser of the tournament, Nathi Dlamini, in company of some  soccer legends who included Berger Nxumalo, said this tournament was open to all social teams in the country.

Registration

He said registration for the tournament had already begun and it would close on Sunday. He said the draw would be held on December 11, saying they were looking forward to having at least 24 to 32 teams per zone. Some of the eight zones include Ngwenya, Buhleni, Matsapha, Mankayane, Hlatikulu, Lavumisa and Vuvulane. The InstaCash Social Soccer Festive Tournament organiser also emphasised on the age limit of players allowed to participate in this tournament.  “May I also make it clear that the age limit for this tournament is 33. Teams must only register those players above this age and leave out those below to formal tournaments. I would advise even those young players to not dare register no matter how tempting is it,” Dlamini said. Worth noting is that the new mobile money service provider has spent about a million in sponsorship of sports especially in soccer. They first started sponsoring Eswatini National Netball Association (ENNA) with E30 000 prior to sponsoring all regional football leagues with a total of about E600 000.
