MBABANE – Ahead of the trip to Eswatini, Zambia’s ZESCO United have added attacking midfielder Spencer Sautu who was on national duty with Chipolopolo yesterday in the FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022.

Chipolopolo were up against Tunisia in a tough qualifier fixture. Sautu is the latest unveiling by ZESCO United before the 2021/22 TOTALEnergies CAF Champions League, which they kickoff against Royal Leopard away in Eswatini. He was unveiled on Monday afternoon according to the club’s website and Twitter as well as Facebook pages. The 25-year-old Sautu has made a sensational two-year loan move from Green Eagles to ZESCO United, becoming the fifth player the club has signed in the just ended transfer window. “I am extremely delighted with this move and honoured to join ZESCO United. This is one of the biggest clubs in the country, which every player wishes to join. This is a team that is always determined to win trophies. I have not won any trophy as such I am determined to win something with them,” Sautu said.

He expressed delight at the prospect of playing CAF Champions League football at ZESCO United. “That’s another big reason behind my decision to join ZESCO United. Green Eagles was playing CAF last campaign. Playing international games regularly is different from playing domestic football. When you are playing international games, it’s different from playing local league matches. Playing champions league football gives you a lot of exposure,” he said, while promising fans great success. He further encouraged fans of the club to continue supporting them like they had been doing and be ready for a good season. He added that he was signed because the club believed that he could deliver and he wanted to ‘work as hard’ to win titles with the team. The attacking midfielder is expected to join his club in time to travel to Eswatini to face Royal Leopard at Mavuso Sports Centre, Manzini on Saturday. Meanwhile, Leopard only made one signing in former Tambankulu Callies’ striker Wandile ‘Shaka’ Simelane.
