MBABANE – The sky is the limit. Eswatini’s professional golfer Nobuhle Dlamini has moved 14 places up in the rolex women’s World rankings ladder and is now placed at position 604.

The latest Women Golf World Rankings released on March 20, 2020 show that the Lobamba-born golfer, who is based in South Africa, is now ranked 604th from number 618 out of 1 336 golfers.

The ranking is based on the 28-year-old’s performance in 20 selected tournaments, which include the South Africa’s Women’s Open that ended on March 15, the New South Wales Women’s Open played in Australia on March 1 until 3 as well as the Australia Ladies Classic Bonville that ended on February 24.
The best golfer in the world, according to the chart, is still South Korea’s Jin-Young Ko while South Africa’s Ashleigh Buhai is now the best female golfer in Africa.

The standings, which are also known for sponsorship reasons as the Rolex Rankings, were introduced in February 2006. They are sanctioned by eight women’s golf tours. They include the Ladies European Tour, where Dlamini is playing.

The rankings are based on performances over a two-year period. Players receive points for each good finish on the relevant tours. The number of points available in each event depends on the strength of the field.

The rankings are used by each of the sponsoring tours to determine eligibility criteria for certain events. For example, 40 of the 144 places in the Women’s British Open are currently awarded on the basis of the rankings—10 to LET members and 30 to LPGA members.

The official World Golf Rankings and Rolex Women’s World Golf Rankings have been paused until further notice with professional golf currently inactive due to the global threat posed by coronavirus (COVID-19).

An announcement about the resumption of each respective ranking will be communicated in due course.
Efforts to get the lady golfer to comment on her latest rankings were futile as she could not be reached on her mobile phone and did not respond to messages sent to her until the time of going to print.
