PROPOSED MASTER RULES, REGULATIONS FOR PLE

MBABANE – The amended Premier League of Eswatini (PLE) constitution is proposing master rules and regulations for all elite tournaments as soon as it is adopted during the Annual General Meeting (AGM) in a few weeks’ time.

Currently, all tournaments under the auspices of the PLE have different rules and regulations but if the amended constitution is adopted and approved by the Eswatini Football Association (EFA) as required, this will change. This means all the tournaments will soon be playing under the same rules save for few alterations especially the titles and prize breakdown because the sponsorships vary in each tournament.

Tournaments run by the organisation at the moment include the MTN Premier League, which carries a ticket to the CAF Champions League, the EswatiniBank Cup where winners are guaranteed a berth in the CAF Confederation Cup, season-opening Eswatini Charity Cup and Ingwenyama Cup.
According to a PLE source, these amendments are meant to harmonise the management of these tournaments as they will be operating under the same rules and regulations.

“This makes a lot of sense especially because the rules will now be uniform to make the job easier for the DC when handling cases. What will differ in the rules will be the prize breakdown and the tournament titles, otherwise everything else will be the same,” our trusted source confided.

Worth mentioning is that the amended constitution is waiting for adopting by the PLE membership before it is passed on to the EFA executive committee for approval. A task committee, made up of mostly lawyers, was tasked by the PLE executive committee to review the constitution and have since completed their job.
