MBABANE – It is better to be safe than sorry.

That’s the positive message from former Eswatini international striker Siza ‘King Pele’ Dlamini in the wake of the wide-spreading COVID – 19 that has already killed thousands across the world in recent days. This pandemic has been declared an international emergency by the World Health Organisation (WHO), with most countries, including Eswatini and neighbouring South Africa, effecting a lockdown on citizens.

‘King Pele’, now Mbabane Swallows’ assistant coach, turned 44 years of age yesterday and celebrated his special day with family behind closed doors at his home in northern Hhohho Region.

“Today is my birthday and I am celebrating it with my family at home because we have to adhere to the instructions of avoiding social gatherings. It is very bad to hear some people making jokes about this virus when this is something we should be taking seriously as a country. The reality is that people will die if we do not follow the instructions to take care of ourselves and avoid social gatherings,” he said. Dlamini, who has previously played and coached Jomo Cosmos in South Africa, also encouraged all people of this country to stop taking the danger of the virus for granted.

“People are dying because of this virus for being ignorant and failing to follow instructions. We must protect the country that we live in and the best way to do that is applying the prevention measures as announced by health officials. We can fight and win this battle but we need to apply the right attitude,” he advised.
