LIVERPOOL DESERVED UEFA TITLE – PAPIC

MBABANE – Sihlangu coach Kostadic Papic is full of praise for England’s Liverpool for winning one of the most prestigious tournaments in the world, styled UEFA Champions League.

He made these comments after witnessing ‘The Reds’ beating Tottenham Hotspur by 2-0 in the UEFA Champions League on Saturday. He was joined by over a hundred spectators who watched the match broadcast from a big screen at Albert Millin in Mbabane.

The Jurgen Klopp-led charges beat the ‘Coys’ 2-0 to lift the prestigious trophy in Europe, all thanks to goals   by Mohammed Salah and Divock Origi, who scored in each half to end the seven-year trophy drought at Anfield.

“Well, there could be no better opponent than Liverpool that could have won the Champions League. They deserved it and they did what was needed, which was to score the necessary goals,” Papic said.

Papic also had in mind Liverpool’s historic comeback against Barcelona in the semi-finals. In the first leg, Liverpool lost 3-0 before turning the tables in the return match to send Barcelona packing in the semi-finals.

The Reds hammered Barcelona 4-0 in spectacular fashion. Tottenham also had their fair share of a historic comeback in the semi-finals after they beat Ajax on the away goal rule. The EPL-based side won 3-2 in the second round after Lucas Moura’s heroics, who scored a hat-trick.
