MBABANE – The path you follow is yours to choose. Switching sporting codes can make your fitness lifestyle journey really enjoyable. Some people sadly subscribe to the notion that their training routine and favourite sport is the only kind of lifestyle to get fit.

They tend to be imprisoned and bored by their daily routines. The time to seek a new fitness adventure is right now. That decision comes with bearing in mind that fitness is an imperfect, long distance event, one that demands patience and mental discipline.

Fitness is a positive achievement, one that will serve only to enrich your life and make it fun. People start training for different reasons. Some people target to lose weight, tone and firm the body, improve health or to build bigger and stronger physical muscles. This week we have an interesting story to share with our dedicated fitness fanatics.

Sifiso Dlamini of Msunduza township just outside the capital city of Mbabane is a multi-talented 33-year-old sportsman. His journey started in 2015 when he fell in love with ballroom dance and pursued his dream to be a dancer. He said he was attracted mostly by its performance and entertainment aspects, enjoyed on stage and television. The sport requires stamina, flexibility, agility and of course mastering the dance moves. Back then he weighed 53kg and had a slim physique.

“I love being healthy. Dancing kept me active even though I was a bit light  because I did a lot of cardio exercises and road training. I felt the need to build stronger muscles and I could only achieve that through switching into weight training and aerobics,” said Dlamini.

Since then, he has gained body mass and added 12kg to make it 65kg. He has crafted a well-toned and more muscular physique. Dlamini is living a healthy lifestyle and says he has never reported sick since he devoted himself to staying fit. He follows a strict training routine, pumping weights for three hours, three times a week and sticks to five days of aerobics. In 2018, he became a full-time aerobics and body combat instructor, having gained access and experience in professional gyms.

“I love and live for fitness. I feel that my calling is to help people be healthy and achieve their fitness goals. My advice for everyone out there is that one must do at least three workouts per week, at least for one hour. It may take time to see physical transformation. However, I strongly believe that health transformation matters the most,” added the fitness instructor.

In terms of diet, Dlamini, emphasised the importance of eating a healthy, proportionally reasonable and balanced meal. He recommended light food for breakfast including fruits, a full meal for lunch and moderate meal for supper, preferably served with a fist size of any starch.

Dlamini is an independent fitness instructor reachable on 7622 2104. He conducts aerobics classes on Mondays and Tuesdays at CTA in Mbabane and on Thursday at Nhlangano Jazzy Gee Gym. The time to get out of your comfort zone and seek new fitness adventures is now.
