MBABANE – Top golfer Nobuhle Dlamini’s earnings have hit the E200 000 mark in South Africa’s Sunshine Ladies Tour (SLT) series.

After seven events in the series, which started on Januaury30 this year; the Lobamba-born golfer’s winnings have shot up to E203 480. She has netted the whopping amount in just 49 days, which is equivalent to seven weeks.

A lion’s share of the money was reaped in the Dimension Data challenge last month when Dlamini shot to the top to pocket E100 000. Other good performances by Dlamini were during the SuperSport Ladies Challenge and the recent Jabra Classic. The 27-year-old finished second in both events to pocket E46 000 and E23 000, respectively.

The SLT is broken down into at least eight tournaments with a prize money of between E100 000 and E2 million. It was the March 14 Investec South Africa’s Women Open that had a bigger purse of E2 million, but Dlamini was relegated to the 47th spot to earn E12 000 out of E317 000.
Only one event, styled Jo’burg, remains before the curtain falls on the series. It will be played from today and E500 000 will be up for grabs.

preparations

The South Africa-based golfer, when sought for comment, said preparations were going according to plan ahead of her stop in Johannesburg this morning.
“I played my first practice round at Soweto Country Club and it went well,” she said.
After the tour, which is played mainly in the neighbouring country, Dlamini is expected to play in other international tournaments closer to home at Ezulwini. She will also tee-off at Eswatini’s flagship tournament, which is the King’s Cup Golf event in   September.
