MBABANE – South Africa’s heavyweights AmaZulu FC have rejected playing their friendly fixture against Mbabane Swallows at Somhlolo National Stadium tomorrow afternoon.

After successful negotiations with Swallows, the capital city outfit opted to move their international friendly to Big Bend, Mayaluka Stadium where there is a natural turf.

Information gathered by this publication is to the effect that the Kwazulu Natal (KZN), Durban-based side raised their concern against playing at Somhlolo due to the fact that the stadium has an artificial turf.

It has come to the Sports Desk’s attention that the ABSA Premiership outfit informed their opponents that they were not used to an artificial turf and preferred using the natural turf.

shifted

Yesterday morning, during the Sports Show on national radio, the Eswatini Broadcasting and Information Services (SBIS), the ‘Beautiful Birds’ Public Relations Officer (PRO) Jackson Dlamini confirmed that the game had been shifted to Mayaluka Stadium.
The PRO indicated that they had come to a mutual agreement with the visitors to have the game played at Mayaluka Stadium instead of Somhlolo National Stadium where it was initially fixtured.
“They raised concern that they were not used to playing on an artificial turf and we came to an agreement to have the game moved to Big Bend where there is a natural turf,” said Dlamini.
AmaZulu, who arrived yesterday in the kingdom, will this afternoon face Manzini Wanderers at the Mavuso Sports Centre in another international friendly.
It will actually be a family fun day for the ‘Weslians’ and all other football lovers.
Worth mentioning is that Mavuso Sports Centre has a natural turf. It was approved by CAF as an alternative sports ground after Somhlolo was declared a health hazard for international fixtures.
