MBABANE – This is only in respect of their Ingwenyama Cup final gate share.

With over 12 000 spectators attending the match between eventual champions Young Buffaloes and Mbabane Highlanders, the tournament’s Management Committee (MC) announced at the Somhlolo National Stadium that presale tickets were sold out.

The MC had printed a fixed 12 000 tickets while the others gained free entry for various reasons which include being on duty and performance in the day’s activities as there was culture and social football before the main final.

“Tickets were sold out and that means the two clubs can be guaranteed to get at least nothing less than E150 000 each. The money hasn’t yet been received but we’ll soon release the full report of how the spectatorship was since the last 32 to the final,” said MC Secretary Simanga Nhleko yesterday.

deductions

In essence, the MC made E600 000 from the 12 000 tickets but it is yet to have deductions which will then leave the clubs’ amount to share. Such deductions include stadium levy and the presale tickets service providers, among others. “We are so impressed with the way supporters did things this time around in terms of buying the tickets on time. We also noted that opening many entry points avoids the queues and complaints from fans so we’ll consider that in every big game now,” Nhleko said.

He said even the feedback from the spectators was encouraging as it was positive. “They were happy with not having to queue yet they bought presale tickets,” he said.

Nhleko said as the MC, they were short for words to thank the nation, the media, the sponsor and all stakeholders who crammed the arena to witness a beautiful day of culture and football from morning till afternoon and most importantly, in front of the king, his guests, including South Africa’s former President, Jacob Zuma and Royalty.

success

He said the packed stadium marked success of the fourth edition and he congratulated Buffaloes for the championship while encouraging Highlanders not to give up as they also deserved all the praise for reaching the final despite not winning it. Buffaloes won 4-1.
